Mosquitoes can be a nuisance to pets in the UK, and may occasionally bite pets causing irritation.

Mosquitoes also transmit heartworm, which is a serious and potentially fatal disease in dogs.

The heartworm disease is not carried by mosquitoes in the UK, but is a threat elsewhere in Europe and in other areas of the world. This should be considered when travelling abroad with your pet.
